Andy

Founder of Signals of Hope

& Essex Ambassador

Hi, I’m Andy — founder of Signals of Hope.

What began as a hobby in metal detecting became something far more meaningful. Being out in the fields gave me focus, calm, and an escape from everyday pressures — and I wanted to share that with others.

Signals of Hope offers free metal detecting experiences to support mental wellbeing. Whether one-to-one or on a group dig, there’s no pressure, no judgement, and no experience needed — just fresh air, focus, and time to reset.

Based in Essex and growing into new areas, my mission is simple: help people step away from the noise and find a little peace.

Jackie

Suffolk Ambassador

Jax is our dedicated Suffolk Ambassador for Signals of Hope, committed to helping others find peace and purpose through metal detecting. Although she’s only been detecting for a couple of years, her passion for the hobby and supporting people is clear to see. Jax brings a calm, welcoming approach to every outing, making it easier for others to step outside, try something new, and focus on their wellbeing. Her drive to give back and help those who may be struggling makes her a valued part of the Signals of Hope team.

He shares the same mission of using time in the field to support mental wellbeing, offering a friendly and encouraging presence to those trying something new. His experience, kindness, and drive to give back make him a key part of the Signals of Hope team.

Michael

Kent Ambassador

I’m Michael, 36.

You’ll usually find me out in the fields chasing signals, fresh air, and a bit of peace of mind.

For me, metal detecting isn’t just about what comes out of the ground — it’s about switching off from the noise of everyday life, enjoying the outdoors, learning as I go, and helping preserve small pieces of history along the way.

That’s one of the reasons Signals of Hope means so much to me.

Sometimes a quiet field, a good walk, and the sound of a detector is enough to help clear your head and reset for a while 💙
